Winner of the 2014 IFDA Educational Foundation's Ina Mae Kaplan Grant for Historic Preservation, the exhibition features an in-depth look inside public spaces, both familiar and less-known, that are designated as interior landmarks. 


Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the NYC Landmarks Preservation law, the exhibit will highlight the importance of these landmark interiors through archival images and new photography by Larry Lederman. 


David Sprouls, president of New York School of Interior Design, will welcome attendees and Kitty Hawks, renowned interior designer/member of the curatorial team, will give an overview of the exhibit.    





David Sprouls is the president of the New York School of Design. He served as vice president of enrollment management and director of admissions at NYSID before being appointed president in 2012. Before his tenure at NYSID, President Sprouls worked in admissions at Albright College and Fashion Institute of Technology. He received a BA in Art History and American Studies from Rutgers College and a BFA in Restoration from the Fashion Institute of Technology.

      As a member of The Mix/Global Color Research Panel, a London-based forecast agency, Doty's insights reflect a thorough understanding of the emotional impact and power that color has on the consumer market and will address practical applications for four themes: Noise, Braille, Blur and Quiet.

Doty Horn is the Senior Vice President of Design at Congoleum Corporation, a leading flooring manufacturer and is the Founding Director of ColorVoyant, a visionary color marketing firm formed in 2011. For seven years as Benjamin Moore's Director of Color and Design, Doty established color strategies and trend forecasting for market-focused programs using color as the driving principle. With a background in the fashion Industry and through extensive traveling for trend research at international trade shows, Doty has established a rich foundation for understanding color and design trends that inform her leadership in color. Doty believes that "if you can understand the "big picture," then you know how to contribute to "the whole"... a perspective that translates well when strategizing color and design direction within any market. No matter the industry, color and design are the two threads that tie everything together.
